Why drainage makes or breaks a wall
The most common reason walls fail here isn’t the stone or block — it’s water. When runoff and groundwater build up behind a wall and freeze, the pressure pushes it out until it leans and cracks. We build every wall with a compacted base and drainage behind it — gravel backfill and weeps — so water can’t collect and heave the wall through freeze-thaw.

We evaluate the slope, soil, and where the water goes, then handle the whole job in-house: excavation, base prep, drainage, the wall itself, and backfill and grading to tie it into the property. On tall or heavily loaded walls we’ll tell you honestly when an engineered design and permit make sense — we’d rather build it once, right.
