Ditch Digging & Swale Construction in Paradise Valley, Montana
Water needs somewhere to go — and if you don’t give it a path, it picks its own, straight through your road, yard, or pasture. EZ Road Repair cuts ditches and builds swales across Emigrant, Livingston, Pray, Gardiner, and the rest of Paradise Valley: roadside ditches that keep runoff off the driving surface, interceptor ditches that catch hillside water before it reaches a building, and wide, quiet swales that move water across ground without eroding it.
When ditches and swales matter
- A road or driveway that gets soft or washes because water has no ditch to travel in
- Spring runoff coming off a slope toward a house, shop, or pad
- Pasture or yard sections that gully, rut, or stay wet all season
- Old ditches that have silted in and stopped carrying water
- Ranch irrigation and stock-water ditches that need cutting or reshaping
Common problems we solve
- Runoff running down the road — we cut roadside ditches with the right depth and fall, paired with culverts where the water crosses.
- Hillside water headed at a building — interceptor ditches and swales above the site catch it and carry it around, protecting the pad and foundation.
- Gullies cutting through pasture — wide graded swales spread the flow so it soaks and slows instead of trenching.
- Ditches that erode themselves — we set the grade so water moves at a civil speed and armor the hot spots with grass or riprap.
Our approach
We trace where the water comes from, how much shows up in a real snowmelt or thunderstorm, and where it can safely end up. Then we cut the channel to a grade that moves that water without eroding — deeper and defined where it needs to travel, wide and shallow where it needs to slow down. Ditches and swales are one piece of the larger drainage system; where the fix needs regrading, culverts, or a French drain instead, we’ll say so.
